As the animator assisting the mocap director, I pioneered motion capture techniques that reduced the problems that animators were having with motion capture data and thus sped production. Taking into account the story board, sets, and props, I blocked the motion capture actors to allow multiple interacting characters to be captured one at a time. Director, Fourteen minute independent 3D animated film. Directed animators, voice talent, and musician. |

Broke the story board down into sequences for capture. Marked out the motions required on set diagrams. Directed actor and stage grip. Played the "Arrocq" character in one scene(not this one). Edited video and documented mocap stage work for animators. |

| On Voltron and Max Steel,
I combed the episode story board, sequence by sequence, fixing prop location
errors, contradictions, continuity errors, and established consistent character
action for the 3D set. I plotted the character locations and motions on
a plan view of the set. The Director used these diagrams to block and direct
the actors on the mocap stage. 99% of the time we built the sequences up from single captures. I advised the Director and actor on whether the motions worked in the virtual sets and placed targets for proper eye lines. Because I was an animator I helped the Director with timing issues and made sure that the capture met the animator's needs. |
